Lesson 1: Introduction and discussion about scientific method.
Why do you think the scientific method an important process?

Decide what factor can be measured to determine which is the 'best' paper airplane.

Write a question that states what your group would like to investigate.
We have decided that we will use the method to decide who's the winner by measuring how
long it stays airborne / in the air.
Lesson 2: Research of different paper planes to determine which variable you will test (length of plane, width of plane, mass etc) that affects the factor you are measuring
(length of flight, height of flight, accuracy of flight).
Write three to five notes about what you have learnt from your research.

Write your hypothesis in the cell at right.
(1)The basic paper airplane takes only 5 quick steps to create.
(2) The smallest origami paper model of a Crane Bird was folded under a microscope using tweezers by Mr. Naito from Japan and was made from a piece of paper 2.9 mm square

(3) If a paper airplane is thrown in space it will float up not down due to gravity.

(4) The invention of the paper airplane is mystery, but Leonardo DiScreen_shot_2010-10-07_at_1.04.01_PM.png Vinci is often given credit for the feat.

My hypothesis is that planes with bigger wing span will stay in the air longer than planes with smaller wing span.
Lesson 3: Independent, controlled and dependent variables.
Write out your experimental procedure, adding any steps you feel are necessary.
Aim: To have a plane stay in the air for a long amount of time.

Materials: A sheet of A4 paper.
a specified design.

The first plane has a bigger wing span.

The second plane has a slightly smaller wing span.
This plane is the same as the other one with a smaller wing sman.

The third plane is same design but yet again but a smaller fold.
Lesson 4: Trials
Choose three planes and complete five trials for each plane.
Collect the data for each trial.
Complete the Google form (Result Entry Form) with your results
One member of the group should be responsible for filming a student explaining the hypothesis being tested, the actual flight trials or post-flight results.
