Project Report

Task to be completed
Date, student comments, answers to questions and results of task.
Lesson 1: Introduction and discussion about scientific method.
Why do you think the scientific method an important process?

Decide what factor can be measured to determine which is the 'best' paper airplane.

Write a question that states what your group would like to investigate.
For our competition the 'best' plane will be the plane that flies the furthest. This means our group will be investigating which style of paper, flies the furthest?
Lesson 2: Research of different paper planes to determine which variable you will test (length of plane, width of plane, mass etc) that affects the factort you are measuring
(length of flight, height of flight, accuracy of flight).
Write three to five notes about what you have learnt from your research.

Write your hypothesis in the cell at right.
Our hypothesis is that that the A4 gsm cover paper will fly the furthest because it is more stable and is heaver so it will glide more. The news-paper plane will be floppy and fall to the ground.
Lesson 3: Independent, controlled and dependent variables.
Write out your experimental procedure, adding any steps you feel are necessary.
1. Go to- and click on the plane labelled "arrow".
2. Make the "arrow" with the four types of paper(A4 reflex paper 80 gsm, A4 cut newspaper 45 gsm, A4 pad-paper 65 gsm and A4 125 gsm cover-paper)
3. Throw the 80 gsm paper plane 4 times and record the results.
4. Do step 3 with all types of paper.
5. Find best type of paper to fly with.
6. Record results.
Lesson 4: Trials
Choose three planes and complete five trials for each plane.
Collect the data for each trial.
Complete the Google form (Result Entry Form) with your results
One member of the group should be responsible for filming a student explaining the hypothesis being tested, the actual flight trials or post-flight results.

Lesson 5: Graph your results and post your video to the wiki.
See below!

Lesson 6: Compare your results with those of other students.
